Late
Friday night Lord Negeon’s eldest son, Rothor, was found murdered in the town
garrison. The Sheriff was killed in
his sleep when his guard abandoned his post.
It was Rothor’s permanent death. The
guard claimed that a Troll attack lured him back to town and he did not resume
his position in the face of continued assaults.
When Lord Negeon learned of the guard’s ineptitude he slew him on the
spot. Some days after the incident
a contract was found tying Lord Arianus of Galavast to the murder. Lord Negeon in a fit of rage condemned Lord Arianus and
declared a bounty of 1,000 cp for anyone who would bring him the wizard’s
head.
Baron
Thermo of the far-off land of Elysia paid a visit to River’s End this month.
He and Lord Negeon toured the town and seemed to get along well.
Many of the townsfolk marveled at the Elysians’ power and grace. The Baron and his entourage greatly aided the citizens in
their fight to recapture the garrison from King Olos and his army, and for that
we are all very appreciative. It
seems that Lord Negeon’s new allies from the north have tipped the balance of
power in Dyllaria from Stonegate Keep to River’s End.
The
people of River’s End were afflicted by a creature of unknown origins.
The beast could take the shape of any person and would assume his or her
identity in order to infiltrate the town hierarchy.
It seems that this was all an elaborate plan to take control of the town.
Once discovered the creatures were killed by a group led by Larus
Wolfhurst, Falgar Shinglefoot, Angus Ebonheart, and Lord Negeon himself.
It is uncertain how the creatures originally entered the population, but
during the final battle with the townsfolk it took the form of Azrael Bloodstorm,
the Drae archer who was with Falgar and Larus.
Throughout the course of the battle Azrael’s clone changed shapes many
times before finally being slain. In
the end the SHAPE SHIFTERS were defeated and all the victims were found alive.
During
the middle of the night on Friday a young Dyllarian Dragon flew into town.
The creature was immediately confronted by a large host of adventurers
who promptly ran away. Angus Ebonheart rallied the group after the beast demolished
the back door to the tavern, and they attacked it with great courage and
ferocity. Many fell to the
dragon’s powerful jaws, wings, and poisonous tail.
Many brave warriors such as Angus, Urik, Wolfgar
and The Krilll continuously stood toe to toe with the enormous creature.
Eventually it suffered wounds severe enough to force it to flee. Once the beast took flight most of the combatants returned to
the inn. Angus wisely watched it
fly and when he saw it circle back toward the tavern he began yelling for
everyone to get outside. Because of
Angus’ quick thinking only Chalene Silvermoure was hurt when the dragon landed
on the roof and collapsed it. The
dragon was within the tavern and began dealing damage to those still alive.
In an extreme show of bravery, Angus rushed in behind the beast and dealt
enough blows to kill it. All this
happened so quickly that Chalene was saved and, thanks to the leadership of
Angus, the town was spared.
Near
dawn on Saturday morning a young girl entered town claiming to have seen a
strange light near the old pond. A
group led by Herald Glenstorm and the Hobling Perianna went to investigate.
The lights were caused by a rift which had been opened into another
world. The adventurers were unsure
what this pane of light was, but when Glenstorm touched it the rest soon
followed. All of the adventurers of
swirling lights. Eventually they
came to rest within a thick and swirling fog.
There
was no ground and the mists flowed like a river and carried the group along.
First they were set upon by odd creatures made of mist.
After a rather interesting battle with these beings in which Kallammar
eventually slew them, the group continued on.
Next they encountered a shard of glass floating in the mist. The glass had the image of a man in it and it was immediately
shattered by one of the adventurers. The
man introduced himself as Gyro the Magnificent, a traveler of many worlds.
He explained that he had been trapped when one of his gateways collapsed
while he was passing through it and that he had been floating for some 8 years.
After
meeting Gyro the group continued along the path and eventually found a small urn
which was an illusion. Upon
touching it the group became trapped in a bubble made of force.
An Astral Pixie came along and said he could free them if they answered
his riddle. They gave the
wrong answer and he left laughing, apparently dooming them.
Soon, however, a pair of gentlemen came along who apparently had set this
trap. After a lengthy discussion
the two strangers mentioned The Phantom. They
said that it used to reside in this strange place and told the party that if
they cleared its old dwelling that they would be allowed to return home.
Upon agreeing to this the adventurers were set free and led to a doorway
in the mist.
At
the doorway the two strangers prodded the group into entering.
Inside were a pair of nasty Fire Elementals which gave the party many
problems. Gyro could not remember
any of his magic and thus he was swarmed by the creatures and nearly killed.
The party came to his aid and also freed a Drae who was being held
captive. A small amount of loot was
procured and the adventurers returned home safely.

ATTENTION GOOD PEOPLE OF DYLLARIA
I
am currently seeking applicants for the title of Mayor of Galavast.
This position, although extremely demanding, will carry considerable
weight and authority. You will work closely with Sheriff Angus Ebonheart to keep
the town safe, but you will also be in charge of collecting taxes and greeting
diplomats. The position will pay
adequately and you will receive bonuses based on your job performance.
It is also time that I take a new apprentice.
My last apprentice, Vance Galvilis, attempted to kill me and then tried
to take Galavast. Luckily neither
plan was successful. Many new
spells will be scribed for you if you are chosen and you will be invested into
my personal Celestial Circle. If
you prove worthy then you may be considered for a position within my cabinet.
I will be in town on the 29th of March and all applicants should speak
with me personally. Both positions will be filled at that time.

To
my friends the Dark Ones,
I
have been busy with my studies and have found brothers like me who have taught
me more than I ever thought possible. I
wanted to let you all know I am alive and well.
The last one of you I saw was the Seeker, and he seemed to have weaseled
into and out of some hot water. I
am proud of his actions, and I know my employer will be pleased. As for the rest of my friends, I am greatly missing your
humor and wisdom. I wish to leave
with you a little poem to explain where I am.
There
is a peaceful sound I hear
A
Bob-White calling very near.
A
calm feeling comes over me
As
leaves rustle in a tree.
Silent
and sudden with a cautious peer.
The
ghostly appearance of a white-tailed deer.
With
a chattering voice and tail in a swirl
I
become the subject of a curious squirrel.
Meandering
thought this blissful scene
Flows
cool water in a woodland stream.
Mother
Nature’s gentle hand caress me here
Calms
my spirit and quiets my fear.
Remember
that your strength and power comes from your union with each other, watch over
each other until I return to once again aid you this spring.
Your
friend,
Spitting Death
