Many
farmers in the River’s End area have expressed a great debt of gratitude to
the warriors within the town who killed the Yeti.
This beast had been terrorizing herds in the North March for over a week.
Much larger than the one slain last year in the South March, this
fearsome creature required several kills per night to curb its enormous
appetite. On Saturday, the monster
entered the town and was immediately confronted by the Drae Mage name Dinen.
The Yeti gave chase to the hapless wizard while the others stood and
watched. Eventually the adventurers
rallied and began attacking but their blows did not seem to have any effect
against the Yeti’s tough hide. Tired
of chasing the elusive Drae, the beast’s next move was to enter the tavern in
search of food. Distracted
momentarily by Sarathan Ebonheart’s brave but foolish challenge, the Yeti paid
no attention to the group of travelers who stood nearby.
A young wizard named Talin displayed his magical prowess by slaying the
beast and saving the tavern from any further damage.
Early
Friday evening Lord Negeon Mangus entered town with Sheriff Rothor and a young
guide named Alexander Faerun. Lord
Negeon demanded that a group follow Alexander to the Oracle of knowledge and try
to find out how to kill The Phantom. A
party led by Angus Ebonheart, Sheriff of Galavast did just that. Upon finding the Oracle Angus placed his hands in the proper
spots and the stone face magically came to life. As he felt the stone become warm to the touch, Angus asked
the question and was told to seek the Witch Doctor. The Oracle then extracted much of Angus’ essence and left
him on the brink of death. One of
the healers saved him and they returned with the answer that they had sought.
Saturday
afternoon saw the Witch Doctor enter the
inn and give to Angus a beautiful stone with magical properties.
He told the group that this stone had the power to destroy The Phantom.
Later that day The Phantom entered town with an army of undead to seek
his revenge. Bravely Angus used the
stone as soon as The Phantom entered the inn, but the attack was resisted by the
apparition and Angus and the others were forced to retreat in disbelief.
Walking around town confident that he had avoided death The Phantom
demanded the stone in return for allowing the town to stand.
When it finally found Angus and the others huddled near a small pond, The
Phantom demanded to know who held the stone.
Angus raised his arm and The Phantom ordered his undead minion to kill
Angus while he shot bolts of flame into the group.
While out-maneuvering the underling Angus made his way to The Phantom and
used the magic of the Witch Doctor’s stone to destroy it.
With a hideous shriek, The Phantom dissipated and was gone and the minion
was slaughtered by the group.
Late
Friday night a group of bandits who had been terrorizing many local roadways
were slain by a large group of adventurers.
One of the cowardly brigands surrendered and begged for mercy claiming
that he would take the group back to their secret treasure chamber. Seeing an opportunity to get some treasure the adventurers
agreed. The cowardly Dwarven bandit
showed the way and also a scroll that the bandit leader carried.
This scroll had a riddle upon it which was the key to opening the secret
lair. When they arrived at the
entrance Devine Carmine spoke the correct words and the magic doorway swung
open. Within the cavern the group
encounted a few traps which took their toll on the party, but did not prevent
them from finding the treasure that they sought.
A
group known as the Blue Diamond entered the tavern on Friday night. These scoundrels who were accompanied by a particulary
annoying Hobling, were up to no good. The
Hobling attempted to waylay Sheriff Angus of Galavast and at that point a battle
began. Almost all of the group’s
members were slain, but a few escaped.
In
an unprecedented occurrence Lord Arianus, Hight Wizard of Galavast paid a visit
to Lord Negeon Friday night. The
two went into a private chamber to speak and it is unknown what they spoke of.
Upon emerging from the chamber both seemed in good spirits and
we can only conclude that they were not contemplating anything catstophic
and that their talks must have gone well.
Just
after dusk on Saturday an Ogre calling himself Olos entered town with an army of
Orcs, Ogres, and a few Drae. He
said that any who wished to join him could, but all declined his offer and chose
to stand in his way. Olos then
ordered an attack. The tenacity of
his forces took the town by surprise and their line of defense quickly
fractured. As the battle raged many brave warriors such as Galin Plant
and a brave Elf challenged Olos himself but none were successful in defeating
him. With most of his force
destroyed Olos left the battle unscathed and will surely return unelss he is
found and killed.
An
unknown man of unknown origin was executed for the crime of treason. Lord Negeon also heard evidence in the case of Rocco the
sheep farmer and found that Devine Carmine was guilty of assault.
There were other cases to be heard but The Lurker made an appearance and
cut the affair short.
Due
to the death of my personal garrison I, Lord Negeon Mangus, will be seeking
brave men who wish to earn some extra pay guarding the town of River’s End.
Apply with Sheriff Rothor at your next available opportunity.

ARRENIEUS COE
Dear
People of Dylleria:
I,
Sebastian Arrenieus Coe, am presently composing a journal concerning the topic
of the creatures located here in my homeland of the wondrous Great Southern
Forest and Dylleria. I will be
returning from to see some of you when the awakening of the land once again
comes to us and the brightness fo the days grows stronger.
I will be conducting interviews to gather information on any and all
creatures, rare or common, to be placed within this tome.
Upon completion, coies of this journal will be available to anyone with a
few copper to purchase it (probably between 10 and 15 copper).
I am presently gathering information from my old master and several
friends in the area around my home. Specific
information regarding creatures of th eForest of Tears and the Forest of Shadows
will be greatly appreciated since I have never traceled to those regions and my
teacher hasn’t been there since he last traveled through those regions, when
he was too yong to wield even a Hobling pickaxe.
Anyone supplying a significant quantity of information will be given a
free copy of the book and one Endow/Delayed Endow/Flame Blade/or Enchanted Blade
spell (choice of one) upon the completion of the tome.

Sebastian
Arrenieus Coe is announcing that he will be taking in students to whomhe will
teach new spells, instruct and guide in the ways of magic, council in the
development of their abilities and introduce to the Order of Raven. Anyone interested in speaking with Templar Coe about this
should respond via this newsbearing herald which travels throughout all of
Dylleria. The cost of coming under
the instruction of theis illustrious and experienced mage will be amodest fee of
six coper per weekened (thus, three copper a day). All proceeds will go to the Order of Raven.
The fee will allow the apprentices to have scribed into their spell books
any and all spells held within Templar Coe’s tome of spells (so long as he is
fatigued by by so doing) at the base cost of 3 copper per spell per level [which
is the minium cost for scribing supplies].
No additional fee will be charged. The
fee will also include daily training sessions in th ecasting of spells, casting
accuracy and the strategy of spell combinations. The
possibility of investment into Templar Coe’s permanent Celestial circle (when
he establishes it) will be greater for those who have been apprecticed by him.
Templar Coe has, as some of you know, been away training with his master,
Marius, and he (Templar Coe) will be returning in the springtime.
He will be awaiting the response of those interested.

ATTENTION
ORDER
OF THE RAVEN
Myself,
Larus Wolfhurst, and Falgar
Shinglefoot are very sorry that we were not able to meet up with you at
River’s End. We were detained at a nearby village and were humbly asked to aid
them in defending their people against of all things a dragon. Well, Prince
Bazil Ravenhurst must have been watching over us because no harm was done to the
villagers and we escaped with minor injuries. We confronted the beast with all
the fury of the Raven and were lucky to have taken it by surprise. After dealing
a hefty amount of damage to the creature we were knocked back by one sweep of
its powerful wings. We scrambled to our feet in time to see the beast take
flight and disappear into the darkness. We were indeed lucky and I hope to never
encounter the beast again. Falgar says we should seek the lair and slay the
beast, but hopefully I can talk the fool out of it.
Also,
if Perianna Took the Hobling reads this entry, we want to reassure you
that we have what is coming to you and until we meet it is safe with us. We are
sorry for the inconvenience.
We

We
