The New of January 598
Olos
Attacks Rock Trolls
Over
the past month rock trolls that have journeyed out of the village have been
disappearing. After a long
search, the River’s End Guard located some of them.
The Guard found their dead bodies surrounded by the tracks of orcs,
trolls, and ogres. When a
messenger was sent to inform the rock trolls of the discovery, but he was
prevented from reaching the village.
Shortly
after the messenger returned, a rock troll returned ran into town saying Olos
was attacking their village. Lord
Coalbaron gathered the entire town save for a few people left behind to watch
the earth circle and the taverns. He
led them with all possible speed to relieve the beleaguered village.
Olos minions ambushed the group on the way there .
Waves and waves of orcs and trolls assaulted the relief party.
The group led by Lord Coalbaron, Captain Morpheus and Magistrate Achee
held the group in a defensive square which allowed them to support each other
while defending from the ambush which came at them from all sides.
Eventually, Olos’s minions were driven off with only one or two
deaths among the party. Lord
Coalbaron, after having the wounded tended to, led the group to the village.
When
the relief arrived, they saw dead bodies, burning homes, and destruction.
Olos’s minions had already fled.
Upon returning to the town proper, Captain Morpheus, with Lord
Coalbaron’s permission, started organizing scouting party to gather up the
surviving rock trolls and establish a new village closer to town so it can be
better protected.
The
reason why Olos attacked the rock is unknown.
However, it is believed to be related to his desire to take over the
green mountains.
Odd Ice Creatures Attack
Strange
ice creatures attacked the town on Saturday afternoon. These creatures
conjured blue ice bolts from
their hands and radiated a cloud of cold mist. As the creatures walked by
everything form a thin sheet of ice upon it. When the warriors attempted to
rush the creatures they dropped to the ground
into uncontrollable chills. They were unable to fight or even craw away
from the chilling creatures. Eventually, the creatures were worn down by
missle fire led by Falcone, Guildmaster Khelban and another archer. It is
unknown were these creatures are form or
the reason of there attack, but the town hopes it is more ready for their
return.
Deserters
Seek Asylum In River’s End
On
Saturday, four men came into town looking for the Lord Coalbaron. The four had
been members of the Stonegate army. They claimed to have fled the battle
because their Captain had gone crazy from the war. They said that they
believed they were being tracked by Stonegate forces. They came to River’s
End to seek protection under Lord Coalbaron. Lord Coalbaron agreed to protect
them until the proper authorities could be contacted.
Later
that day a small group from Stonegate arrived in town looking for Lord
Coalbaron. They came to River’s End to inform Lord Coalbaron of the status
at Stonegate. They also wanted to see where he stood on the war and they
wanted his verbal support. A Lord from Stonegate also explained why the
deserters were wanted and the crimes they committed. They were assigned to
one of the elite regiments of Stonegate. When the command was given for
there regiment to charge into the masses these
individuals turned and ran away causing the front of the regiment to
break. This break aloud the enemy to work it’s way through the middle of the
regiment leaving many deaths behind. The famous Field Captain Flannagan was
one of the many who die as result of the cowardly act.
The Stone Guard along with Lord Coalbaron and Captain Morpheus entered into the building and demanded the deserters to surrender.
The
three deserters jumped to there feet and instantly began to fight. The battle
was short but frantic and the Stone Guard walked away with minor injuries.
Before Lord left he
invited all who wished to help the army they may join up at any of the allied
towns. He also stated that necromancers are not welcomed and they will be killed
on the stop.
