What Is an NPC?
At NERO you have the opportunity to either play the game as your own Player Character (PC), or as a Non-Player Character (NPC). The PC represents your own character. You decide his personality, skills, costuming, and you get to play him for the entire game.
As an NPC, you work for the plot people, except it's not really work at all. NPCs often get to experience the game in ways that are not possible as a PC. When you NPC at a NERO event you will play many different roles, including monsters, villains, peasants, diplomats, and other fun and exciting things. Your skills are drawn up by the Event Plot team, and you will be subjected to many different scenarios and game goals that you will have to try and accomplish. The most fun of NPCing is the non-stop action involved. Each time you die or your scenario ends as an NPC, you return to the monster shack and get a new role to play. It is a truly challenging and invigorating experience that keeps people coming back for more!
The Benefits of NPCing
When you NPC you get to experience many different aspects of the game that you may not otherwise have any exposure to. This experience is very valuable in both understanding how plot works and how to use your skills to the fullest. In addition to this invaluable experience, NERO Ohio and West Virginia reward the players that NPC for events in many other ways.
When you NPC at a WAR owned NERO International chapter, you will receive a full blanket of experience per game day toward whichever of your characters you wish. In addition, you will learn one free skill per day without the need to be taught. NPCs that stay through and help with cleanup of the plot shack and the mod areas will receive one draw from the NPC Grab Bag per full day that they NPCed.
NPCing for Free!
As an NPC you can choose to pay for events by spending ten US Dollars per game day that you NPC, or you can choose to NPC for free. When you NPC for free, you receive 1/2 the experience point blanket instead of the full experience point blanket you receive for paying to NPC. This credit goes toward your NPC Ratio. As always, NPCs that help clean up will receive a draw from the NPC Grab Bag.
